STEVIE BRINGS SMILES TO KIDS FACES
It wasn't exactly tea with Stevie G but for local kids in the city it was the next best thing when the Liverpool skipper popped in for lunch yesterday afternoon.
Gerrard is the latest Anfield star to play his part in the Premier League's Creating Chances initiative - a project designed to bring the country's top football clubs closer to their local communities. The Reds' midfielder was joined by club doctor
Mark Waller at a children's charity centre in Toxteth where he helped deliver a message highlighting the importance of healthy eating. After a food tasting session with the kids, Gerrard was then put on the spot by the awe-struck youngsters who wanted to know everything about their hero with questions ranging from what foods he eats to how much money he earns.
"It's always the kids who give the most difficult interviews," joked Gerrard. "
The Scouse kids especially always ask the toughest questions about all sorts of things. "It's important to get out into the community though and help to get messages across. The healthy eating issue is very important because we all want kids to have the best possible chances in life and if they eat the right things and have a proper diet then they'll be on the right path."
