Dr Waller qualified in Liverpool in 1982. Following early training post he became a Hospital practitioner in the A&E department of Alder Hey Hospital for 6 Years and then Gp Trainer and University Clinical teacher in General practise.
He was then asked to join Liverpool Football Club as team Doctor in 1993 followed by an invitation to become the Doctor for the England under 21 team in 2000. He actively continues to hold both of these posts.
Dr Waller is a member of the FA International Teams committee and is the FA representative on the British Olympic Association Medical Committee.
He has been involved in research into Sports injury with the FA and is currently involved in research into Football Injuries with UEFA. He is also currently involved with the undergraduate teaching with The University of Liverpool Medical School taking students for research modules.
