is a Consultant Paediatric Neurologist

He has been elected as an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and as an Originating Fellow of the Expert Witness Institute.

His professional and research interests include all aspects of neurological disability in childhood and specifically cerebral palsy and communication disorders. He has continued with an active research interest in aspects of cerebral palsy throughout his professional career.

He continues to present at meetings of professional organisations including Mac Keith Meetings and those of the British Paediatric Neurology Association, the British Association of Childhood Disability, the European Association of Childhood Disability, the American Academy of Developmental Medicine and Cerebral Palsy and the Expert Witness Institute.

His medico-legal practice consists of having prepared reports for claimants and defendants, and latterly following joint instructions, in civil litigation over the course of the last 30 years,. The vast majority of these have been concerned with children who have neurological disabilities.

He also has medical publishing interests that derive from his work for Mac Keith Press. Mac Keith Press is the publisher of the journal Developmental Medicine and Child Neurology and of a large series of books on aspects of child neurology. He is Chair of the Board of Directors of the company and also chairs its Editorial Board.

More than sixty articles, books and chapters of books written alone or with others have been published. These have focused particularly on aspects of the epidemiology, clinical presentation and management of children with cerebral palsy, on communication disorders in childhood, and on feeding difficulties in disabled children.
